Julie is a 2007 graduate of Pittsburgh School of Pain Management, the school specialized in teaching Trigger Point. Julie received her FSM training from Shannon Goossen, and Dr, Carol McMakin starting in 2015. Julie has lived in Alaska for over 27 years and has seen the great need the state has for trigger point and FSM therapist.
Throughout her career, Julie has participated in many community events (festivals, fundraisers, health shows, education seminars and marathons ). She educates people using several approaches, some is done with hands-on demonstration of TPT, that includes explanations of pain referrals and perpetuating factors to the public. In Alaska, there is a large number of people who do not know of the existence of trigger point or FSM therapy. Julie is a firm believer in patient self-care and root-cause analysis. She often teaches her patients stretches, proper breathing and other techniques they can do to improve their quality of life. They are also encouraged to have a healthy diet that will improve the healing of their bodies.
Julie loves being a therapist and has been a contributor to many successful treatments of MTPT and FSM pain or range of motion cases. She looks forward to seeing the number of MTPT and FSM therapist increase to help the number of 'pain patients' decrease. Julie is thrilled for to serve on the board as Secretary to the NAMTPT, she hopes to assist therapist with education and partnership with other like-minded people.
